Country Lanes Bowling in Ishpeming hosted the students in recognition of Wellness Month.

ISHPEMING -- Kindergartners from Lakeview Elementary School in Negaunee got to take a shot at bowling Tuesday morning.

Country Lanes Bowling in Ishpeming hosted the students in recognition of Wellness Month.

Lakeview is focusing on teaching kids about proper nutrition and physical activity this month.  They hope that by incorporating these principals into their education, kids will choose to spend their free time physically active.

"Unfortunately, a lot of children in our society are spending a lot of time, you know, playing video games on their computers and leading more of a sedentary lifestyle, so we're trying to get them out and get them active," said Nikki Coduti, Kindergarten teacher.

Students were excited to get out of the classroom as it is one of only two field trips the class takes due to this year's budget cuts.

They bowled from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
