The accident happened early this morning just north of Menominee.
MENOMINEE -- A semi-gasoline tanker from Green Bay crashed and rolled over on M-35 early this morning. The crash happened at Evergreen Road, just north of the city of Menominee.
The full tanker was leaking, but has now been contained with the loss of anywhere between 40 to 80 gallons of gasoline on the ground.
M-35 is now closed for thru traffic as of 11:45 a.m. Saturday, and all traffic is being detoured across Elmwood Road from M-35 to US-41.
Several houses were evacuated, and a 1000-foot perimeter is being maintained. Electrical power was shut off from the Menominee City limits to Elmwood Road and could remain off for several hours. A clean-up operation is underway.
