The council voted unanimously to move forward with contract negotiations with Jared Ottenwess.

ISHPEMING -- The Ishpeming City Council is closer to filling their vacant city manager position.

The council voted unanimously to move forward with contract negotiations with Jared Ottenwess.  He's the Trenton, Florida City Manager.

Former City Manager Alan Bakalarski and Interim City Manager Jim Bjorne performed a detailed background check this past week.

The council also voted to extend Bakalarski's contract so he can help with the negotiations.

They hope to have everything worked out by February 3 at their next regular meeting, and they hope Ottenwess will be in office by March 8.
