GREENLAND TWP. -- An Indiana man is dead after a snowmobile accident in Ontonagon County Wednesday.

According to the Michigan State Police, the crash happened just before 3:00 in the afternoon on trail 12 in Greenland Township.

Twenty-nine-year-old Clayton Bear of Hanover, Indiana was sledding with a party of 12.  They came to an unplowed driveway.  Bear failed to negotiate the uneven trail and was thrown from the machine.  He was then hit by another snowmobiler in the party.

Bear was taken to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital where he died.  The other sledder was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.  Speed is believed to be a factor.
