NIAGARA -- We've been following the story of a Niagara sixth grader and her trip all the way to San Diego for the Punt, Pass and Kick national finals.

Brooklyn Wolosyn won the competition for the 10 and 11-year-old girls’ age bracket on Sunday at the AFC playoff game.

She was greeted with a hero's welcome Tuesday morning when she returned to school.  The Niagara Schools gathered to cheer her on as she walked down Jefferson Street.

Students, along with Brooklyn's family, held up signs telling Brooklyn how proud they were.  She said the entire competition was a great experience she wouldn't mind doing again.

“[It was] a lot of fun because first when I started, I was scared, but then when we got there I wasn't,” said Wolosyn.  “I'm going to remember that I had a lot of fun and I'll probably do it again next year.”

Brooklyn was one of eight Punt, Pass and Kick winners nationwide.
