The Salvation Army in Iron Mountain has seen a five percent increase in money donated through its kettle can drive from last year.
IRON MOUNTAIN -- The spirit of giving has shown up in the food pantry and the kettle cans of the Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army in Iron Mountain has seen a five percent increase in money donated through its kettle can drive from last year. They have also seen an increased number of cans of food donated.
The money and food will be put to use almost immediately as January is one of the worst donation periods of the year.
Office Manager Amber Schiltz said even though things are good now, the need is greater than ever.
"It's always important to remember that need knows no season, even though it's the time of year when everyone is thinking about donating," says Schiltz. "Throughout the year, we need everybody's continued support with food items and monetary donations so we can continue to help everyone in our community who comes to us with needs."
The Salvation Army will continue to collect donations on a regular basis in the new year.
