ONTONAGON -- An Ontonagon man charged with criminal sexual conduct in the first degree was back in the Ontonagon County circuit courtroom on Thursday.

Thirty-six-year-old Stefan Savage is accused of having sexual relations last November with a minor substantially younger than himself.

On Thursday morning the judge denied a motion by the defense to have the proceedings moved to a different location because Savage is an African American.

The judge scheduled a tentative trial date for March 15; that’s dependent on the return of forensic evidence.
