Embezzlement suspect charged

She allegedly stole money from Northstar Health Systems.

IRON RIVER -- A former Northstar Health Systems employee in Iron River pled not guilty to several charges in Iron County Circuit Court Monday.

Shelly Marie Brooks waived her preliminary exam and then pleaded not guilty to 18 counts of forgery and uttering and publishing.

Brooks also pleaded not guilty to one count of embezzling between $20,000 and $50,000.

A pretrial is scheduled for February 1 in Iron County Circuit Court.
