IRON COUNTY -- An Iron Mountain woman is listed in serious condition after a two car accident Thursday morning on US-2 in Mastodon Township near Crystal Falls.

The accident happened just after 6 a.m. when a car traveling north on US-2 collided with a semi hauling wood that was making a u-turn.

The car was trapped underneath the truck.  Cindy Levenburg, 51, was removed from the car by the jaws of life and taken to Northstar Health System and later transferred to Marquette General.

A Reinhart Foods truck was able to avoid the accident by driving into the snow bank.

US-2 was closed for about four hours as crews cleaned up the accident.

The driver of the semi that caused the accident was ticketed for failing to yield.
