A passenger of the minivan, an 86-year-old Gwinn woman, was ejected from the vehicle, and later pronounced dead at Marquette General Hospital.
SANDS TWP. -- Snow and ice covered roads, along with periods of white-out conditions, could be to blame for a fatal accident in Marquette County Saturday afternoon.
A minivan was traveling southbound on M-553 with three passengers, when it veered left to avoid the slowing vehicles in front of it.
The minivan driver lost control and slid sideways into the path of a northbound car.
A passenger of the minivan, an 86-year-old Royal Oak woman, was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead at Marquette General Hospital.
It was determined that she was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.
