Midtown Bakery employees do what they know how to do best to pay it forward.
NEGAUNEE -- There was no question of how Midtown Bakery employees Linda Fetterhoff and Julie Priebe were going to pay it forward, but to who took a little more thought.
"So we were trying to figure out who we wanted to pay it forward to and because we're both members of the Negaunee Eagles," said Julie Priebe, "we decided to see if we could help out Penny Karhi's charity.
The charity is the U.P. Diabetes Outreach Network which hosts an annual diabetes kids camp, and to raise money, auxiliary president Penny Karhi of the Negaunee Eagles has planned to host a bake sale.
"Penny has been a little ill lately, so we wanted to kind of give her a little boost," said Linda Fetterhoff.
What better way to kick off a bake sale than to have two professionals working for you?
"I enjoy baking; so does Linda. For us, this is something we both don't mind doing and it's something that we both can do," Julie said.
In no time at all, Linda and Julie had whipped up a tray of treats. Because Penny is under the weather, her daughter, Kris Irwin, was on hand to accept the generous donation.
It just goes to show that a simple act of kindness goes a long way. In this case, it went from Kris to her mother and ultimately, to the U.P. Diabetes Outreach Network.
