MARQUETTE -- The financial fraud case involving the Hawks Ridge condominiums in Marquette took a major turn Wednesday afternoon.

Charges against three of the five defendants in the case have been dropped.  This, according to one of their attorneys, Karl Numinen.

Charges were dismissed against businessmen Ryan Bruns, Brian Swift and Chad LaVallie.  The order was signed by Judge Roger Kangas.

The three men had said they were investors in Hawks Ridge, but were entirely innocent of the charges.

On the other hand, according to Numinen, charges against Mike Gokey and Joel Westrom still stand.  They're charged with fraud and using false pretenses to obtain money.

A preliminary exam is set for December 1.
