MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- A Negaunee family is lucky to be alive Saturday after the brakes in their car failed, striking some trees.

It happened around noon Saturday on County Road 492 in Marquette Township.

The 40-year-old driver from Negaunee told police he was traveling at a slow rate of speed when his brakes failed.  He drove the car into trees near the Highway Center Line Historical Marker.
