British doctor is walking across the U.S. raising hospice awarness.

MARQUETTE -- He's walking 6,000 miles across the United States to raise hospice awareness, and he's not even from this country.

Dr. Colin Skinner is from England and began his walk in New York City at the end of August.

This isn't the first time this world walker is raising awareness for hospice care.  Colin did his first walk here in the United States 20 years ago.

He spent the weekend at Lake Superior Hospice in Marquette, talking to community members and staff.

"I'm spreading the message that hospice is there to help people with serious illness, but saying that hospice needs help, too; that hospice needs volunteers and support from their local community, so they can help people make the most of life for as long as possible and give them good quality of care, too," said Dr. Skinner.

He's headed to Escanaba next and will continue to head west from there.  Colin hopes to be at his final destination of Minot, North Dakota by the middle of December.
