MGH's Women's and Children's Center will benefit from a large donation from Kohl's.
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- Learning the importance of safety was the goal of the Injury Prevention Children's Fair.
As part of the Kohl's Cares for Kids: Safe and Healthy Families Campaign, activities were held at Westwood Mall to promote injury prevention. Children and their parents could enjoy safety demos as well as arts and crafts.
One of the highlights of the event was a large donation from Kohl's to Marquette General Hospital's Women's and Children's Center. More than $22,000 will be put towards health and wellness activities and safety prevention at MGH.
"Trauma is the number one killer of children, and people may not know this, but children's cancer is also the number one killer of youngsters," said Gary Gustafson of MGH, "so we really need to focus in areas that deal especially with young people.
Since the opening of the Marquette Township Kohl's store in 2003, more than $100,000 has been donated to the Women's and Children's Center.
