Seafood Fest ends early due to weather conditions.
MARQUETTE -- The weather definitely put a damper on this year's Marquette West Rotary Seafood Fest.
Even a piping hot bowl of seafood chowder wasn't enough to lure crowds out to the annual fund-raiser.
In fact, on what is usually the busiest day for the three-day event, organizers decided to shutdown five hours early.
The rain, wind and cooler temperatures on Saturday just proved to be too much.
Proceeds are estimated to be down 50 percent compared to last year.
"Well, we're hoping to, of course, break even," said co-chair Bill Martin. "As the name suggests, we have a rainy day fund that we carry some money over, so at least we're able to continue on giving out some money."
The money raised from the Seafood Fest goes to a number of different community projects and programs.
