The Annual Pig Iron Classic Steel Plate Match is all about speed.
NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- Speed and accuracy was essential at this weekend's Annual Pig Iron Classic Steel Plate Match.
The competition is hosted by the Negaunee Rod and Gun Club and included a course of 24 targets with one optional target.
Participants fired off in six target stages with a reload in between.
There was also different categories to the competition, such as revolver, auto-loader, and open.
"Most of us shoot what we call bulls eye over the course of the year, and this is more of just a fun match to get our club together and our neighboring clubs together," said Jeff Paull of the Negaunee Rod and Gun Club. "We just have a good time with it."
This year's event was packed with action. Officials say more than 30 participants came out for the match, which is a larger number of shooters than they've seen in the past.
