Search and rescue hoisted the sign up from the Jackson Mine pit.

NEGAUNEE -- A case of vandalism in Negaunee turned into a good opportunity for a training exercise for Marquette County Search and Rescue.

About three weeks ago, someone threw a sign for the Iron Ore Heritage Trail over a cliff at the Jackson Mine pit.

Wednesday evening, Marquette County Search and Rescue brushed up on their rappelling skills and retrieved the sign.

The sign was made by Negaunee High School students.  It contains a display map of trails in the area.
