A recycling opportunity allowed Keweenaw residents to get rid of old electronics.
HANCOCK -- Keweenaw residents had an opportunity to clean out their closets and garages of any old, non-working electronics.
Now in its fourth year, the Western U.P. Electronics Recycling Program has collected more than 79 tons of electronic waste from more than a thousand households.
Over the weekend, residents could drop-off just about anything with a cord attached to it and walk away knowing that their unused items won't be going to a landfill.
It's still costly to recycle electronics, so the program operates on grant funding and minimal participant fees.
