Carolina Whipple Eddy is a "real daughter" of the American Revolution.
MARQUETTE -- It's certainly a privilege--not every chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has a "real daughter."
In honor of Caroline Whipple Eddy, who passed away 100 years ago, members of the Omagomingkway Chapter met in Park Cemetery to rededicate her gravesite.
Eddy was the daughter of Sergeant Ethan Whipple.
The ceremony consisted of a reading Eddy's obituary, which was printed in the March 9, 1909 issue of The Mining Journal, and placing flowers at her tombstone.
"Not every chapter has a "real daughter" and we do, so we're able to say thank you for helping to found this wonderful society," said chapter regent Melissa Wilson.
Remembering the gravesites of "real daughters" with a ceremony says Wilson is the project of the current president general of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
