MARQUETTE -- Six juveniles were hospitalized over the weekend, one with a life threatening condition.  It was all due to alcohol abuse.

According to the Marquette County Prosecutor's office, the isolated incidents are still under investigation, and there's no word yet how the minors obtained the alcohol.

Officials say reports of underage alcohol consumption seem to skyrocket this time of year due to graduation parties and weddings.

"It is our position, both the Prosecutor's office and Marquette County law enforcement, that we will pursue and investigate situations such as this, and there could be potential criminal penalties," said Assistant Marquette County Prosecutor Matt Wiese.

Underage drinking is a misdemeanor offense punishable with a fine.  However, providing alcohol to a minor could lead to a felony conviction with up to 10 years in prison.
