The Michigan Iron Industry Museum will host a variety of fun and educational events.
NEGAUNEE -- Employees of the Michigan Iron Industry Museum are gearing up for a busy summer of events.
The afternoon program series is continuing this year with presentations planned by the United States Coast Guard, Mackinac State Historic Parks and NMU.
There will also be an antique automobile exhibit, with everything kicking off at the museum's open house on Sunday, May 17.
Officials want residents to know, while a new road is being constructed to the facility, the museum is open.
"We're really looking forward to having the road completed, which will provide direct access off of US-41," said Barry James, the museum's curator of education. "Visitors will have a straight shot with parking in the front and also, some trail development off of the roadway."
The road should be completed sometime early this summer.
The museum is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
