ISHPEMING -- Bell Hospital will be able to improve its Bell Fit Kids program thanks to a $5,000 Healthy Lifestyles grant.

Each week, classes are held with different activities such as obstacle courses, kids-only aerobics, and yoga.

Right now, children from ages 7 to 12 are participating, but the hope is to add more classes in the future.

All money will be used to purchase new equipment and materials to expand the program, which aims to encourage kids and families about how to instill a healthy lifestyle.

"Kids are maybe not playing outside as much, not being as active, and physical education in schools is at an all time low," said personal trainer, Jamie Thayer.  "This way we can incorporate healthy choices."

The weekly class costs $10 and meets on Saturdays at 11 a.m.
