U.S. Coast Guard in Marquette has a new boathouse in the works.
MARQUETTE -- With a new boathouse in the works, the U.S. Coast Guard in Marquette said goodbye to their old one Wednesday morning.
The Coast Guard's boathouse near the breakwater was demolished after a century of service to Marquette residents.
The boathouse was originally built in 1890 and was reconstructed later after a fire in the early 1940s.
While the old building will be missed, the Coast Guard is excited to soon be using a new facility, hopefully by June, for their operations.
