MANISTIQUE -- Sunday is the start of what is considered the holiest week in the Christian faith.

Congregations across the world are celebrating Palm Sunday.

At the First United Methodist Church in Manistique, there was a procession carrying palms to remember the path Jesus took into Jerusalem ahead of his crucifixion.

"In some interpretations, when Jesus came into his final area for his Passover meal, they laid down cloaks and branches," says Reverend Don Bedwell, "and in some, they laid down palms for him to travel on."

The First United Methodist and churches across the nation will hold special services throughout Holy Week.
