The Ishpeming project received the windmill blades Wednesday.
ISHPEMING -- The long delayed wind turbine project in Ishpeming is now only a few weeks shy of completion.
Pioneer Bluff, the senior housing complex, received one of the last shipments they'll need to finish the generator on Wednesday morning. MTI Energy delivered the blades for the windmill.
"We're very excited because we've had such a long delay," said Evelyn Valente-Heikkila, the executive director of Pioneer Bluff. "They started construction of the tower in July of 2006, but there were so many delays in between."
The wind turbine will provide over 50 percent of the 88-unit apartment building's power. The project is being subsidized by UPPCO.
