Assailant with log convicted

Downstate man attacked a Gullver man with a log.

MANISTIQUE -- The downstate man accused of beating a Schoolcraft County man with a log was found guilty Wednesday.

Nineteen-year-old Dale Hillsburg of Muskegon was found guilty of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, less than murder. It's a ten-year felony.

Hillsburg beat 26-year-old Matthew Fischer of Gulliver with a log at a party in Doyle Township back in August.

Hillsburg will be sentenced on March 5.
