Michigan teen dies week after attack, boyfriend held
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (AP) -- A student at Ann Arbor's Huron High School has died a week after she was beaten and left in the snow.
Family spokeswoman Shelley Steele says 17-year-old Anna Maria List was taken off life support Tuesday after she was declared brain dead. Her family carried out her wish to donate her organs.
List's boyfriend, Dominic Deangelo Oyerinde had been charged with attempted murder in the attack. Prosecutors tell The Ann Arbor News the 20-year-old now will be charged with a more serious crime.
He is due back in court Jan. 27.
List never regained consciousness after she was discovered January 13th near a park in Ypsilanti. Police say she suffered a blow to the head with a hammer or other object.
Oyerinde has not yet been assigned to a public defender.
