A local group is creating original tunes that have folk enthusiasts listening.
MARQUETTE -- Singing in harmony after creating Cannonball McKay just several months ago, acoustic guitarists Jeff Krebs and Amy Lakenen are already playing gigs around the U.P. and boasting a couple dozen songs in their repertoire.
"I'm real excited about a new project!” exclaimed Krebs, a Marquette native. “I've had other bands here and elsewhere, but I'm just excited about doing something new, something fresh."
New and fresh are exactly what you'll hear from this dynamic duo. These self-described folk artists create original music they believe listeners can relate to.
"We've got a lot of emotion in our songs,” Krebs replied. “I think it's honest, natural music, and it's original."
While pleasing crowds with just their voices and guitars is the goal, this team enjoys performing even more.
"It's definitely an outlet for me,” Krebs laughed. “I love basically every aspect of playing music. I love writing songs. I love playing the guitar and other instruments, and I really love playing with Amy. We've got a good thing going."
Those interested in hearing what Krebs and Lakenen have to offer can catch Cannonball McKay at Harley's at the Ramada Inn in Marquette this Thursday, January 8.
