Elks and Bell Foundation give back to community
ISHPEMING -- In Ishpeming, people made sure they got their traditional Christmas day meal.
The Bell Foundation and Elks Club of Ishpeming teamed up to host their annual Christmas dinner. Open to all members of the community, the free dinner featured turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. More than twenty volunteers waited on eager diners.
"I love seeing the smiles on everybody's face who get to come have dinner, and we wait on them hand and foot--everything they want, we get them. It's just really nice to see how happy everybody gets," said volunteer, Krista Musselman.
"I do it because this is what Christmas is about is giving back to the community. It's not so much opening presents, you know the commercialism of Christmas. It's giving to others," added Bell Foundation Director, Dave Aro.
Over the past two years that the dinner has been held, more than 400 people have been served.
