Safer turning from South Hill Road.
GLADSTONE -- There are some changes coming to the South Hill and US-41 intersection in Gladstone.
The Gladstone City Commission approved the Michigan Department of Transportaion's plan to add a left turn lane in that intersection.
They'll also be removing the blinking light to go south toward Escanaba, where motorists have to cross two lanes of traffic and merge into the southbound lane. Once removed, motorists will then have to go to the intersection to make a left-hand turn.
"The new traffic signal is what's going to be important. It's going to have the signal--the green arrow to allow you to make a left turn without having to yield to oncoming traffic," said Gladstone Interum Manager, Howard Keeton.
Crews are expected to begin construction after July 4. They hope to have it complete by the end of summer.
