ESCANABA -- Your stay at OSF Saint Francis Hospital in Escanaba may now be a little safer and more comfortable.

The hospital recently purchased new high-tech beds, costing $9,200 each.

Officials say they'll provide even better care for patients than before, with safety alarm mechanisms and easier patient mobility.

OSF invested over $350,000 to purchase the beds.  There are nearly 40 of them distributed in the hospital's medical/surgical and special care units.

"The beds overall are really going to benefit the patients because they're really designed for their safety as far as healing purposes," said OSF Registered Nurse, Jaylene Brown.

Eventually, the hospital will add computer programs to use with the beds to automatically record information normally done by hand.
