ISHPEMING -- Sunday's fresh snow made for an exciting opening weekend at the Al Quaal Recreation Area.

Skiing and tubing opened Saturday and area residents were excited to hit the slopes.  Kids enjoyed a day of sledding, skiing, tubing, and even some snowboarding.

The newly fallen snow added to the fun and made visitors eager for the rest of winter and winter activities.

"Oh we're loving it.  We've had a lot of fun.  They have snowmobiles, we've been doing some snowmobiling.  It's a good time", said Keith Hunt of Edmore.

Skiing and tubing at Al Quaal will remain open through the Christmas vacation period.
