1st District represented by ornament
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Christmas tree in the White House is adorned with an ornament that has a close tie to the Upper Peninsula.
The ornaments are hand decorated by people across America, using the red, white and blue theme chosen this year.
Representing the 1st District of Michigan is the work of Marquette resident, Keri Thill.
Keri’s ornament is a silver ball using blue of the flag for Lake Superior, the red of the stripes for Lakes Michigan and Huron. The white is used to outline the land and places snowflakes around the ball.
On the other side is a bird forming the number one for the 1st District.
