Accidents reported, but no injuries.

COPPER COUNTRY -- Extreme cold with very little visibility were the conditions that Keweenaw residents had been facing Monday.  Icy roads made it even worse, yet amazingly, no major injuries had been reported in accidents at report time.

But ice underneath the snowy roads did cause some motorists to go into the ditch like a Houghton County Road Commission sand truck.  It slid on ice and landed on its side on Paradise Road.  Tow crews took two hours to get the plow upright and out of the ditch.

Steve Therrian of Superior Service said, "We've been really busy; kind of a combination between visibility and icy roads, people not slowing down."

Low visibility caused an accident on Sharon Avenue in Houghton Monday morning.  The driver of the car didn't see the SUV when it pulled into oncoming traffic.
