U.S. News and World Report gave Westwood High School a bronze distinction.
ISHPEMING -- A local school got high honors from a national publication.
Westwood High School has been chosen as one of the top schools in the nation by U.S. News and World Report magazine.
More than 21,000 high schools across the country were studied on things like student achievment and test scores.
Westwood received the highest honor in Marquette County with a bronze distinction.
Administrators say the honor is a collaborative effort.
"As a district, we're very proud of this distinction which really belongs to the staff, students, and community that serve our district," said NICE Superintendent Michael Haynes.
"While the distinction came to the high school," said Principal David Boase, "I think it's important to note that while we're the end result, this comes on the backs of the very hard work of our elementary and middle school, as well."
Thirteen schools in the U.P. made the list.
