The Gogebic/Iron County Airport could put the three year plan in place this summer.
IRONWOOD -- A new terminal at the Gogebic/Iron County Airport could soon be a reality. The airport board has been working on the plan for nearly three years.
Airport officials are in the final negotiating stages of building a new $1.3 million passenger terminal.
Most of the money would come from state grants.
It would replace the old terminal, which was built in 1959, and is rapidly becoming inefficient.
"I think a new building, a new look, something that is more inviting, more progressive, is what we're looking for," says Airport Mananger Duane DuRay. "This is a welcome mat to our community."
DuRay says they hope to start construction by next summer.
