MARQUETTE -- The housing market has been a source of concern for months now due to an unstable economy and high number of foreclosures.

In Marquette County, waterfront property is considered prime real estate and there are currently 76 lakefront homes available.

According to Stephanie Jones, Associate Broker for Select Realty, although prices have dropped, the market for waterfront properties isn't suffering.

"I wouldn't call waterfront property really a stagnant part of the market," says Jones.  "It's just that there's more available.  That second homebuyer is much more cautious with this economy, so it does mean that sellers tend to be a little more motivated."

It's a buyer's market right now, and potential homeowners can often get incentives from sellers.

Jones suggests anyone looking to buy or sell a home contact a realtor to be assured they'll get the best deal possible.
