Northern student put on a dance performance Saturday.
MARQUETTE -- With all of the snow on the ground, some physical activities must retire for the winter. However, dance is alive and well.
Saturday, NMU held its Chance to Dance performance, showcasing all different types of dance.
Tap, ballet, and belly dancing were just a few of the styles performed. And with so many styles to choose from, dance is a great way to stay in shape over the winter and escape from stress.
"For me personally, dance is my relief. It's what I do to get away from classes for a little while; to do something physical, to stay in shape, and it's a great way to express yourself artistically, emotionally, personally. The people here are amazing, too. Just the social aspect. People here are great...they're like a family," said dancer Casie Veen.
Chance to Dance is put on each year by Northern students as part of a class project.
