Sale held in Peter White Library was a success.

MARQUETTE -- The parking lot of the Peter White Public Library was jammed with cars Saturday morning, and it wasn't because of looming due dates on borrowed books.

Instead, shoppers thronged the lower level of the library and crowded the booths of more than 25 local and regional artists.

On display and up for sale was everything from pottery, to wall art, as well as handcrafted-wearable works.

And despite forecasts for the worst shopping season in a long time, it looked the same as most years.

"We we worried about this show, but we sold out by 11:30 a.m.; all of our wreaths were gone and a lot of people know to reserve them ahead of time, so we haven't seen any difference in our sales," said Diane Simonson, owner of Keweenaw Bay Wreath Company.

Simonson and her husband have been attending this show since it started eight years ago.
