Community support backs rodeo
IRON RIVER -- The U.P. Championship Rodeo in Iron River will continue, thanks to the support of the community.
The Iron River Rodeo board says they've been losing money on the event over the last several years. But in a last ditch effort, they were able to raise over $17,000 through a radio-thon with the help of WIKB.
They still need more than $130,000 to run the rodeo, which is scheduled for July 31 and August 1, 2009.
They'll begin planning more fund-raisers and start organizing the rodeo at their next meeting on December 1.
