Election board conducted accuracy tests in seven precincts.
MARQUETTE -- Election day is less than a week away and the city of Marquette is getting ready.
Wednesday, the election board conducted public accuracy tests on voting machines for their seven precincts. It's required by law that the machines be tested before election day to ensure that the programming is working properly.
"If we didn't do this then people could ask questions, more or less, you know, 'How do you know this is working right?'" stated Dave Bleau, Marquette City Clerk. "That's why we do it and during this process we did that and everything's working fine."
Test ballots were run through the machines and board members verified printouts to make sure that everything was tallied accurately.
All seven machines functioned properly and Bleau said, "They're ready for a record voter turnout."
