HOUGHTON COUNTY -- Police are still searching for a West Virginia fugitive who's believed to be camping in the Upper Peninsula.

Authorities report that someone might have seen 39-year-old Kenneth Edwin Mikolon in Mass City on Saturday night.

A search team spent Wednesday combing the woods in Houghton County for Mikolon, who failed to appear in a West Virginia court on October 8 for 17 counts of sexual abuse of a minor by a parent or guardian.

"We were traveling all the backwoods," explained Houghton County Sheriff Brian McLean.  "The back roads and backwood areas, stopping and talking to people, and dropping off fliers to let them know if they spot this person, who doesn't want to be found, to contact law enforcement immediately."

The searchers included not only sheriff's deputies, but also the State Police, U.S. Marshals, the Department of Natural Resources, and the U.S. Forest Service.

Mikolon was reportedly spotted in Twin Lakes on October 18.
