MARQUETTE -- The man who served as the Marquette County Board Chairman for more than two decades returned to that position Tuesday night.

The Marquette County Board elected Gerald Corkin as its chairman.  Corkin takes over for Deborah Pellow who was elected vice chair.

Corkin has served on the Marquette County Board for nearly 30 years.  He was board chairman for more than 20 years up until January of 2011.

In other business, Vice Chair Pellow addressed the board about County Road 595.  The proposed road was recently rejected by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

Pellow said the 80 million dollar project would have created about 400 jobs.  She thanked the road commission for their effort to try to get the project approved.
