FLORENCE, WI -- The energy of talented acting, the thrill of problem-solving, and the taste of splendid food is what you can find this weekend at the Mystery Dinner Theatre in Florence, Wisconsin.
It’s hosted by the Caring House in Iron Mountain which offers services to victims of domestic violence, and the theatre will give audience members the chance to be active detectives. The cast has been planning and practicing for months and is looking forward to helping raise money for a good cause.
Director and actress, Carla Anderson, is happy to help out.
“The mission of the Caring House is what really makes it worthwhile,” said Anderson, “knowing that you did something not only fun, but something that's going to make a huge difference in someone's life.”
“I never thought I’d do anything like this,” said actor Scott Horton. “I did it for the first time last year, and it was a lot of fun. When you don't mess up on stage, it's great. It’s just a lot of fun, and it's for a good cause, and it's nice seeing everybody's reaction in the crowd when you do something.”
The performance is entitled “Murder at the Tonylou Awards” and is a spoof on the entertainment award shows. And the theatre-goer isn't just merely enjoying the visual arts; they're tasting them, too.
“The location, The Encore, they do their own catering,” explained Executive Director of the Caring House, Cheryl O’Neil. “It's awesome food and people were very excited; that's why we keep going back.”
All proceeds from the performances will go to the Caring House to ensure their services remain available to domestic violence victims. Tickets will not be able to be purchased at the door, so be sure to buy them in advance.
