MARQUETTE -- The artist behind this year's UP 200 logo is seeing new success thanks to the exposure from the sled dog race. Eli Brooks has been creating works of art featuring landscapes and animals for the past six years. After submitting artwork for sale in the silent auction last year, the U.P. Sled Dog Association asked if she could create a logo for the race.

"I went through my reference materials and came up with the dog that had my most favorite expression, and that's when they're watching their mushers, and they watch every move they make and this dog just has amazing markings, just the expression is awesome," said Brooks.

Brooks had a chance to meet the dog that inspired the logo. The dog's name is Falcon, and he and his team finished fourth in this year's race. Brook's work is also being displayed at the Zero Degrees Gallery on Third Street in Marquette.
