ISHPEMING -- A great place to enjoy the winter opened Saturday in Ishpeming. The tube slide at Al Quaal Recreational Area was up and running Saturday afternoon.

The tube slide has been run by city crews since 2002. It is a place for people of all ages to have fun. There is even a tow-rope so users do not have to walk back up the long hill.

"Well, first of all, you don't have to climb up the hill, and that's really fun," said Katelin Russell of Marquette. "But, it's just super smooth and you don't have to worry about hitting anything and the tubes are awesome. It's just really big."

Danielle Clark was tubing with her family. The Boyne City resident explained her favorite part, "Just going down and going over the side of the hills."

The hill is now open every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. A day pass costs eight dollars.

Group rates are available, and the hill can be rented after hours for private parties. For more information, visit the web site for the City of Ishpeming.
