SAWYER -- Wind and very dry conditions Saturday could have been the cause of a brushfire in Sawyer, officials said.

It happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. on the corner of Mitchell and Starfire Streets by the old school. The photo was taken by Facebook viewer Josh Petrovich.

Crews were able to contain the fire but not before it burned roughly five acres of land. Nearby homes and structures were not affected. Forsyth Township Fire Department and EMS, Sands Township Fire Department, and the DNR were all on scene.
