There are now about 3,400 acres burned. Containment is now up to 70 percent

SENEY -- The wildfire burning at the Seney National Wildlife Refuge continues to burn, but containment efforts are progressing.

The fire started last Sunday night from a lightning strike. There are now about 3,400 acres burned. Containment is now up to 70 percent. The areas still burning are well within the contained areas. The Marshland Wildlife Drive and the Pine Ridge Nature trail have been reopened, and are expected to remain open unless conditions change. The fishing route is remaining closed for now.

Because the fire is no longer spreading rapidly, some resources have been diverted to the Duck Lake Wildfire, including the helicopter and two air tankers.
