Todd Wentworth faces 40 years in prison if convicted of two felony counts
MARQUETTE -- An Ishpeming man facing methamphetamine charges entered a not guilty plea Monday morning at his arraignment in Marquette County Circuit Court. Todd Raymond Wentworth could go to prison for 40 years if convicted.
The 31 year old is charged with one count of operating or maintaining a meth lab and one count of conspiracy to operate or maintain a lab involving meth. These charges date back to November 12, 2012.
Both felonies are punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Those sentences would run concurrently, but because Wentworth has at least three felonies on his record, the sentence for each felony is doubled.
Wentworth was wanted by the Ishpeming Police Department in January on a warrant. He was considered armed and dangerous during the search. After three days, he was captured by police in Ishpeming.
Wentworth remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond. On Monday morning, defense attorney Karl Numinen said he will be requesting a bail modification hearing for Wentworth in the near future.
Wentworth's pre-trial hearing is scheduled for June 24 at 3 p.m. with a jury trial scheduled to begin August 6. Judge Thomas Solka scheduled the trial for up to three days.
